Frozen Theme Cake

Let it go! Let it go! Who watched the Frozen movie? If you did the you will be familiar with the song. I watched it once with my daughter. Her favorite character is Olaf the snowman. Lol! I thought it's a pretty cool animated movie and I love the theme song. Oh well, so a few weeks ago I was asked to make a birthday cake for a little girl who loves the movie.

The snowman on top is made of gumpaste. I actually made it twice because the one that I did the first time, my daughter broke it. Ha! I left it on the table and I forgot (pregnancy brain, I guess?!), she reached it and she thought it was a toy. Found her playing with it and broke into pieces. Lol! Can't put it back so I just made a new one and put it on the kitchen counter where she cannot reach it. She loves to play with fondant so whenever I'm decorating cake, I gave her a fondant and let her play with it. I hope she will love cake making as much as I do someday so she can be my helper.

Speaking of pregnancy, I haven't posted an update for a while. I will as soon as I get the chance to take photos of my big 'ole belly. Lol! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

What am I doing lately?!

Yes I'm still here. Alive and kicking! Lol! My life has been busy lately and I want to let you know that I am not ignoring my blog. It's just been one of those days where you don;t know what to write. I'm planning to redesign my blog but I'm thinking of doing after our second baby is born which is on November. I've been working on new designs and ideas. You know I'm not a graphic designer and it will take long. Lol!

Taking care of a toddler specially when you're pregnant is ain't easy. I felt guilty of not playing with my daughter anymore as I just want to lay down in the couch every single day. I am always extremely tired! I tried my best to pay attention to her as much as possible. I even brought her to our local library last week for a playgroup activity and I'll be bringing her again this week. It was awesome that she can mingle with other children and she likes that she has playmates. I think she gets tired of playing with her mommy. Lol! It's also a practice for her when her sibling arrives in November.

Anyway, I'm still doing my baking stuff and of course my Etsy shop. My shop is doing great! I'm so happy that I'm almost getting close to my 600 sales which is awesome. I enjoyed doing it! In terms of making cakes and baking, I actually slowed down a little bit. I have few orders but I will stop for a while when the baby comes but will definitely will go back probably after a few months but we will see.

Well, speaking of baking, I actually did a cake this week for a smash cake photoshoot and here it is. It's a buttercream rosette, one of my favorite technique in cake decorating.

I also made some cookies for a first birthday which I will post soon. See, I told you I'm not sitting around the house, I'm busy. Lol! Plus I have few Etsy orders to finish this week too. Although I just want to sit down and lay down in the couch, I still have things to do but I'm not overdoing it. I tried to take a rest and takes naps whenever my daughter takes nap. Nap time is the best time! Lol! Sleep while I can!

Two months ago, I started this new "activity". Ha! I started couponing! Who's into couponing?! I have been wanting to do it for a long time. At first it was confusing but I have already learned the do's and dont's and the routine on couponing. Oh my gosh! It's addicting! So my husband calls me his "crazy coupon wife". I will post some of my hauls and will share how I did save money on the items that I bought. Can you believe some of the items I bought I actually got for free. Yes, free! Who doesn't like free stuffs? Ha!

Another thing that's make me busy too is decorating the nursery. I've been DIYing! Here are some of my projects that I've done.

Love my dresser! I bought this old dresser which used to be in oak color, repainted it and hand painted the leaves and branches. I love how it turned out. I would like to do another one for my daughter's room.

Made this canvass wall decor too. I bought a canvass at Hobby Lobby. Oh did I told you that we have Hobby Lobby now that is close to our town. Yes! I'm happy! Ok, anyway, I used a sharpie and wrote my favorite verse. If you asked, that is hand written, no stencil used :) I used to do calligraphy when I was in high school and love doing it.

Okay, I think this is enough for now. I will update my blog as best as I can. *fingers crossed* Also I will have a pregnancy update, that's a must. Lol! Hope you all have a wonderful week!

16 Weeks

Hello second trimester! I was so excited when I hit the second trimester mark because I know I will feel better but I was wrong. Ha! Morning sickness still kicks in once in a while. I called it "evening" sickness as it usually occurs in the evening. After I eat dinner specially if I'm too full, I felt nauseous and feel like I'm going to throw up. I think heartburn also add up to this. What I do is I don't eat too much at night. I can say I'm sicker this time compare to my first. I am beyond exhausted every single day. Chasing a toddler when you're pregnant is not easy. Whenever I have a free time which rarely happens, I take a nap whenever my two year old does. This is the reason why I haven't been blogging lately so please forgive me for not updating my blog everyday as I used to.

A few weeks ago, I rushed to the hospital as when I woke up one morning, I was bleeding. I was scary! I know that bleeding is not a good sign so I called the hospital and went right away. I was checked, had my ultrasound and baby is ok. Thanks God! Bleeding stopped too. I'm so glad that nothing was wrong and everything was good.

Yesterday, I turned 16 weeks and here's my baby bump update and you can actually see the "bump" now.

Rose Wedding Cake

I made this simple wedding cake two weeks ago for my husband's cousin's wedding. This is a buttercream rose cake and those pink roses were fondant. I had to redo the roses around the cake because the buttercream was so soft that it didn't hold it's shape.I think I put too much milk on the buttercream that's why the consistency wasn't perfect. I made second batch of buttercream, scrape off the roses and redid it again. It's a lot of work but you learn from your mistakes. Baking and decorating is a learning process, takes a lot of practice until you get right one :)

Hope you are having a good day!

{Guest Post} Easy Tips for Planning a Stress Free Family Vacation

Taking a trip as a family is one of the best ways to relax and get in some quality time together. Regardless of how old your children are or where you go, this concentrated family time is a highly important bonding experience. But while the actual vacation itself may be relaxing, the planning process can be quite the opposite. As a mom to two little ones, I know that the idea of planning a vacation can feel overwhelming enough to discourage you from leaving home in the first place. If you’re heading out on a trip soon, keep some of my go-to tips in mind in order to cut stress levels during the planning and travel processes:

Abandon the idea of perfection

It’s easy for parents to put a lot of pressure on themselves when it comes to planning and executing the perfect trip. You want to make sure your kids have an amazing and memorable time, and you can’t let little hiccups in the trip get you upset. One of the most important things I’ve realized about traveling as a family is that it’s not going to go perfectly. Flights are going to get delayed, dinner reservations will get lost in the shuffle, and drinks will get spilled. To prevent small incidences from derailing you, embrace the imperfection of your trip and make it a point to have fun anyway.

Pack your carry-on wisely

When you’re flying, you’ll want to pack your carry-on bag strategically. Even if you feel absolutely confident that the airline won’t lose your luggage, it’s always best to prepare for the worst. If you have medication that you need to take every day, pack it in your carry-on and not you checked luggage. Along those same lines, if you’re traveling with small children you’ll want to make sure to bring diapers, bottles, and other essentials with you onto the plane. This way, even if a bag is lost, you won’t feel a complete sense of panic. A fun way to bring along some kids items is to pack a small backpack for the kids to carry-on too! The bag can be filled with crayons, markers, stuffed animals, and some snacks. This will help free up space in the important carry-on and also get the kids more involved.

Make sure you feel confident about your arrangements at home

Many people spend so much time fussing over how things are going at home that they’re unable to really kick back and enjoy their vacation. If you have pets back home, make sure that you take the time to find a trustworthy pet sitter. When you know that your four-legged friends are in good hands, it helps you to relax and enjoy the trip. Also, make sure that you have someone in charge of taking your mail in, watering your plants, and attending to any other duties that will become important when you’re out of town.

Plan for Fun

Planning out some of the events and excursions prior to leaving can reduce confusion and stress. With my husband and two little ones, getting everyone on the same page can be somewhat difficult. Try and plan out some of the fun family events a few weeks before leaving. By doing that, you can save money on booking early and make sure you get that dinner reservation with Cinderella! Use your resources when looking for fun, kid-friendly attractions in your vacation destination. It doesn’t hurt to have a rough itinerary planned either, and just remember you’re on vacation to have fun!

Lastly, make sure to include only the bare essentials. Trust me, it always seems like a great idea to bring outfits for any possible occasion, until you’re forced to cart a massive suitcase through the airport. Take only what you need to enjoy the trip and leave the rest at home. You’ll need that extra room in your suitcase for all the knick-knacks you’ll be bringing home anyways.
