50th Wedding Anniversary Cake

Last month, I made this white and gold cake for the couple that's celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Their daughter contacted me and wanted a simple three tier cake with flowers and there should be a touch of gold.

I think this is one of my favorite cake that I made. Love the gold colors of it. Everything are edible too. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

16 Weeks

Hello second trimester! I was so excited when I hit the second trimester mark because I know I will feel better but I was wrong. Ha! Morning sickness still kicks in once in a while. I called it "evening" sickness as it usually occurs in the evening. After I eat dinner specially if I'm too full, I felt nauseous and feel like I'm going to throw up. I think heartburn also add up to this. What I do is I don't eat too much at night. I can say I'm sicker this time compare to my first. I am beyond exhausted every single day. Chasing a toddler when you're pregnant is not easy. Whenever I have a free time which rarely happens, I take a nap whenever my two year old does. This is the reason why I haven't been blogging lately so please forgive me for not updating my blog everyday as I used to.

A few weeks ago, I rushed to the hospital as when I woke up one morning, I was bleeding. I was scary! I know that bleeding is not a good sign so I called the hospital and went right away. I was checked, had my ultrasound and baby is ok. Thanks God! Bleeding stopped too. I'm so glad that nothing was wrong and everything was good.

Yesterday, I turned 16 weeks and here's my baby bump update and you can actually see the "bump" now.

Rose Wedding Cake

I made this simple wedding cake two weeks ago for my husband's cousin's wedding. This is a buttercream rose cake and those pink roses were fondant. I had to redo the roses around the cake because the buttercream was so soft that it didn't hold it's shape.I think I put too much milk on the buttercream that's why the consistency wasn't perfect. I made second batch of buttercream, scrape off the roses and redid it again. It's a lot of work but you learn from your mistakes. Baking and decorating is a learning process, takes a lot of practice until you get right one :)

Hope you are having a good day!

{Guest Post} Easy Tips for Planning a Stress Free Family Vacation

Taking a trip as a family is one of the best ways to relax and get in some quality time together. Regardless of how old your children are or where you go, this concentrated family time is a highly important bonding experience. But while the actual vacation itself may be relaxing, the planning process can be quite the opposite. As a mom to two little ones, I know that the idea of planning a vacation can feel overwhelming enough to discourage you from leaving home in the first place. If you’re heading out on a trip soon, keep some of my go-to tips in mind in order to cut stress levels during the planning and travel processes:

Abandon the idea of perfection

It’s easy for parents to put a lot of pressure on themselves when it comes to planning and executing the perfect trip. You want to make sure your kids have an amazing and memorable time, and you can’t let little hiccups in the trip get you upset. One of the most important things I’ve realized about traveling as a family is that it’s not going to go perfectly. Flights are going to get delayed, dinner reservations will get lost in the shuffle, and drinks will get spilled. To prevent small incidences from derailing you, embrace the imperfection of your trip and make it a point to have fun anyway.

Pack your carry-on wisely

When you’re flying, you’ll want to pack your carry-on bag strategically. Even if you feel absolutely confident that the airline won’t lose your luggage, it’s always best to prepare for the worst. If you have medication that you need to take every day, pack it in your carry-on and not you checked luggage. Along those same lines, if you’re traveling with small children you’ll want to make sure to bring diapers, bottles, and other essentials with you onto the plane. This way, even if a bag is lost, you won’t feel a complete sense of panic. A fun way to bring along some kids items is to pack a small backpack for the kids to carry-on too! The bag can be filled with crayons, markers, stuffed animals, and some snacks. This will help free up space in the important carry-on and also get the kids more involved.

Make sure you feel confident about your arrangements at home

Many people spend so much time fussing over how things are going at home that they’re unable to really kick back and enjoy their vacation. If you have pets back home, make sure that you take the time to find a trustworthy pet sitter. When you know that your four-legged friends are in good hands, it helps you to relax and enjoy the trip. Also, make sure that you have someone in charge of taking your mail in, watering your plants, and attending to any other duties that will become important when you’re out of town.

Plan for Fun

Planning out some of the events and excursions prior to leaving can reduce confusion and stress. With my husband and two little ones, getting everyone on the same page can be somewhat difficult. Try and plan out some of the fun family events a few weeks before leaving. By doing that, you can save money on booking early and make sure you get that dinner reservation with Cinderella! Use your resources when looking for fun, kid-friendly attractions in your vacation destination. It doesn’t hurt to have a rough itinerary planned either, and just remember you’re on vacation to have fun!

Lastly, make sure to include only the bare essentials. Trust me, it always seems like a great idea to bring outfits for any possible occasion, until you’re forced to cart a massive suitcase through the airport. Take only what you need to enjoy the trip and leave the rest at home. You’ll need that extra room in your suitcase for all the knick-knacks you’ll be bringing home anyways.

Well, today I'm nine weeks. I think it's not a baby bump yet that you see, I think I'm just bloated but I took this photo before I eat. Lol! Red and Aqua Wedding Cake

Last week I made this wedding cake, the theme was the color aqua and red.The bride wanted a simple cake with roses and scroll design. I usually make a sketch of the cake and send it to the client for their approval or sometime the client sends me a picture of the cake that they want. I like to create a design of my own but if the client shows me the photo, I always tell them that I will not copy the exact cake but I will make sure that it is inspired by the photo and I'll add my own touch and design.

Everything on this cake is edible. I did the flowers and are made of gumpaste.

Coral and Turquoise Baby Shower Cookies

Last week I made these baby shower cookies for a Mom-to-be who's having a girl. The baby shower theme was animal prints with coral and turquoise colors. Coral and turquoise are some of the colors that I like and they really look good together. I love the combination of these two colors.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
